Bot or Not???
I will not post his name, but I have a suspected bot running Fort Aspenwood. I will let you decide. Yeah there may be many more out there, but this one is playing smarter then most. He is running a touch build and runs a good path. He is a standard toucher that goes the same path over and over attacking only things that get on the way of his target which are the gate guards. He hides right on top of them making him hard to see, and then when an idiot opens a gate to run amber to the gate keepers he runs off to the next gate. If you let him in he will run right to Gunther’s gate keepers killing them one by one. If he is left alone with them he will solo them. I suspect he is a bot since 1. He runs the same paths the same exact ones always. 2. When on target he will not switch unless the gate opens. (I tested this by healing a NPC over and over and over 3-4 minutes of solid touching making no progress) 3. I have whispered him many times asking him if he is a bot. (of course no reply).
So what do you think Bot or not… Must be raking up the faction like mad.

I wouldn't reply to either if you asked me if I was a bot.

possible. would require a generous amount of experience to make such a bot though. hard to make a conviction since he is technically participating in pvp. could just be a stupid idiot toucher that doesn't speak english, who knows.

I believe I have seen who you are talking about. When I attack the person with a close range weapon he will switch his path from running to the gate guard to me. When I tried to pull him away, he would break "agro" with me and continue to pursue the gate guard. However, with the amount of bots in FA/JQ it doesn't surprise me.

The ability to say bot or not has become increasingly difficult with the simplicity of the macro scripting programs as well as the knowledge of the player base. This situation could easily be a bot and just as easily be a human with repetitive tendencies that knows what seems to work for him. The whole bot concept will always be around in any online game because when there are rules, people find way to circumvent them, its part of humanity.

yea he is. if he doesn't reply its a very good indicator, along the other notes.
just don't ask if he's a bot next time. ask something random that would get a response out of anybody.

If it does the same thing every time, then yes, it is probably a bot.

He's using server bandwidth while not actually being at his keyboard. It matters to a-net.

Sounds like a bot.
Then again, when I get into farming mode, I rarely deviate from my normal path or timing, and I ignore pm's as well. If he's doing it to farm, even farming faction, and he has anywhere close to the same mentality that I have, once you get in the zone, nothing else matters.
Also, if bots are effective because they do the same thing over and over, with little variation or deviation from their primary purpose, why shouldn't a player tailor his/her playstyle in any farming/bot-able environment to produce the same effects when they play?
Make sense?

I generally don't respond to random pm's so that isn't really much of an indicator and I know many others who do the same. The same path maybe he is just drinking beer like I do and just stays on auto pilot practically by not doing much of anything because really the grind titles take so much time its hard to play it full on engaged all the time. It could be a bot but it at the same time could not be since I have played against some players who were not bots but they were terrible and repetitive.

The whole "omg someone doing repeative movements = bot" thing is kinda outta hand here. Just spend a few days (hell, an hour) in RA and you will quickly remember just how dumb this player base can be. I would not be surprised if this is just a really simple minded player.
Now, it certainly could be a bot. There is no real way to know unless you actually see him ALL the time. The true test of whether somebody is a bot isn't his behavior, but for how long he plays. If this guys online for 40 hours straight playing aspenwood non-stop AND doing the same thing over and over, then its a bot. Seeing him in one or two or three matches performing generally the same behaviors... eh tougher call.

I actually don't care! but then again, if all players goes in a game and does this "bot-watch" thing, chances are the side your on will be the loosing one, but hopefully not.
I don't even care if players sync anymore lol !!! its Arena Net's problem, i've "over-care" and if they are not going to do anything about it. ... hahaha i mean moo mooo moo!

No, the true test of "botness" is "repetitive behaviour". If you can spot him going the exact same path, say, 5 times in a day, you can be suspicious. If it's, say, 10 times in two days, you're probably right. The fact that it's doing it for 5h or 10h straight (which means you have to dedicate the same amount of time...) is another strong proof, not the only one. On the other hand it's the easiest one to spot for the server!

I have a buddy who never bots, but he was banned twice for botting. Both times he had to post on GWOnline until gaile saw his predicament and unbanned his account.

If he actually attacks the gatekeepers despite being a bot, I'd say he's more intelligent than your average FA player.

99% of the time I ignore PM's (at its usually someone who didnt read my no PM's post when Im selling stuff in ventaris), does that make me a bot?
Seriously half the PM's turn into, you are hot and will you be my gf lol ( playing female chars obviously makes me female lol).
I would love to see the bots cleaned out and a non response to a green texted pm from a mod would give an auto 1 hour ban on receiving faction (as an example), but it doesnt seem that anet will do anything about them /sigh
I suppose if they remove some bots, I would hope they remove the complete leeching/follow only ones first at least....
